MTV drops war-themed videos in the US and UK, for the duration of the war. One of the videos banned is Outkast's Bombs over Baghdad. Outkast is against the war (see the previous entry for details) so they are probably not too happy with Jennifer Capriati, an American tennis player, using it as her theme music when she played at a tournament in Miami-- saying she was playing the song "to support our troops."
Posted by usounds at March 27, 2003 03:57 PMI was just wondering if this song is really about Baghdad, Iraq? I have been told it is really about a place called Baghdad in Florida?
Posted by: Jenn on April 3, 2003 04:20 PMdid someone also tell you that youre stupid
Posted by: cutta on April 4, 2003 12:18 PMdid someone also tell you that youre stupid
Posted by: cutta on April 4, 2003 12:18 PMLook you little asshole. It was a simple question. I am not saying I believe it is about a place in Florida, I was asking if it was possible. Did someone also tell you that you are stupid, obviously not because you were stupid enough to post the same message twice!
Posted by: Jenn on April 5, 2003 06:25 AMLook here all I wanted to do was just watch a fucking video of Outkast, Bombs over Baghdad. Who in the hell cares where it was located beacuse we are bombing the shit out of it anyway. So I guess that makes you guys both stupid.
Posted by: 420 on April 8, 2003 02:44 PMyo yo. i dont think capriotti really gets the meaning of the song, it's not about being all 'fuck yeah bomb shit dude' in fact its the opposite
Posted by: 840 on April 8, 2003 03:09 PMlittle asshole? how dare you put the word little in there jenn. posting the same message twice wouldnt be stupid as much as it would be redundant. redundant and stupid would be repeating something like is b.o.b. about a city in florida. im just playing tho i apologize. im pretty sure there isnt a city in florida named baghdad but even if there is thats not what the song is about. 420 well at least you spelled stupid right, what made you think clicking on comments would play the video, idiot. and 840 the song is mostly symbolic but its not an anti war song by any stretch, even if kast says they are against this war now.
Posted by: cutta on April 11, 2003 12:37 PMThe song "Bombs over Baghdad" is actually a prophecy. It is a telling of what's to come. Also, at the time, it was a telling of what had happened and was happening at those moments. Silent wars are never seen, just as silent words are seldom heard.

Posted by: dfadvocate on April 25, 2003 12:17 PMmezyas right in a way. the song came out way before the war, hit the mainstream media. we've been dropping bombs on baghdad for the past decade. i think whatever that tennis stars name is the stupid one for not really even getting the meaning of the song. if anything kids should use that song for inspiration to get up get out and get something, and not join the "forces of evil."
Posted by: smoker on April 25, 2003 06:47 PMI heard the song was about having safe sex.Dont pull the thang out unless you plan to bang, dont even bang unless you plan to hit sumthang. But I dont know shit anyway
Posted by: WILLIE PROSPEKT on May 2, 2003 01:53 AMyo i have to say something to you brothaz and sisthaz. exlaxchat aka da shit talker wrote and his clearing his throat so he want choke BAMA holla at your folks
Posted by: exlaxchat on May 29, 2003 08:08 PMWhat the hell exlaxchat??? Try to clean up your spelling and slang to make your self understandable. Then try stating whatever the hell it is you were trying to say again in a more understandable fashion. Even if you think it’s cool to talk like an idiotic gangster in real life, slaughtering the English language, it isn’t cool to type like one. Or is that the only dialect you understand? Figure it out dude, gay slang like “niggaz” and “da” is gay. Hmm, am I on the topic of this forum? Who cares? Just wake up dude, you’re an idiot.
Posted by: Helixxo on June 11, 2003 11:26 PMAllow me to clear something up for all of you out there. B.O.B was basically about the U.S. bombing the outskirts of Baghdad but not actually hitting anything of importance. Outkast was making fun of the U.S. gov't for being scared to actually go after Saddamm and his regime. If you've ever actually listened to the lyrics of Outkast, you understand that they are against many gov't policies and probably didn't agree with the U.S. getting itself into a war not promoted by the rest of the U.N. So Jennifer Caprioti was stupid for thinking she was picking a song to support the U.S when in fact it was the opposite. Just wanted to clear that up.
Posted by: Guru16 on July 2, 2003 10:05 PMHello people, the year you won't forget 1999! I've been jamming this song since '99 so it came out way before this present war in Iraq. It was more talking about the bombings clinton did there in '98...as well as all the other stuff that happened there including the war in '91.
