Leave it to the groundbreaking, Grammy-winning duo Outkast to come up with a unique project. On the double CD Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which hits stores Aug. 26, Big Boi and Andre 3000 will solo together. Each has a disc to himself, though each also will appear on the other's side.
"It's going to be funk, funk and more funk, but sophisticated at the same time," says Big Boi, who is featured on Speakerboxxx. "I think it's a natural progression from the last album (2000's Stankonia)."
Andre 3000 says The Love Below (which features Norah Jones on Take Off Your Cool) is a little calmer, but the entire package has the group's signature vibe. He produced four tracks on Speakerboxxx, and Big Boi raps on three songs on The Love Below.
"If you took Outkast and dissected it like you would a scientific frog, you'd be able to see how much we are alike but also how much we are different," says Andre.
The first song to go to radio will be Ghetto Music, which features a Patti LaBelle sample and will appear on Speakerboxxx. The singles Church by Big Boi and She Lives in My Lap by Andre 3000 will hit airwaves Aug. 1, and there will be videos for both.
Lap's video features actress Rosario Dawson, who will star as Andre's love interest in an as-yet-untitled 90-minute musical the duo is doing with video director Brian Barber for HBO.

I´m sure it will be the biggest album in the rap game in this year and in years to come. I´be one question to y'all, do you know when its gonna hit the record stores in Europe? thanx
Posted by: Jon on August 17, 2003 10:47 AMthe music you've put out over the last 8 years has not only been groundbreaking but trend setting. i mean hoodie hoo, crumblin erb, wheelz of steel, aqemini! brillant. i'm almost scared of what to expect. you know when you wait for some artists and they don't spill out like you think they should? "when my favorite crew ain't comin wit it" but i think the state of hip-hop needs another dose. the world just seems to be getting crazier by the day. the kast brings an understanding to that reality. p.s. come see us up at wright state university in the fall once ya'll start the tour!!!!!! we have a venue!

Posted by: Charles on August 18, 2003 01:27 PMSouthernplayalistic, ATLiens, Aquemini, and then Stankonia.... beautiful. You cats are by far not only the best hip hoppers in the game today but the goddamned best musicians, period. Keep 'em coming guys, we here in Memphis can't get enough. Oh, and by the way, how about another "Liberation"???
I can't wait for this album. With the funk-drenched music they've been putting out for this long, I can't imagine this will be any different. The backing music on any Outkast album is second to none in both rap and possibly any form of music out right now. The most creative, innovative musical group today.
I think I'm looking forward to Andre's stuff more right now simply because he is a better rapper. Big Boi always has fresh rhymes and a nice smooth flow, but it's hard to compete with the best ever.
I have a hard time believing people rate 2pac, or Eminem, or anyone else higher, when it seems pretty glaringly obvious to me that Andre is light years beyond them.
Yo, good luck on the new album, much Stank Love to all.
i been waitin 4 them 2 come back on the scene wit some REAL MUSIC. Kast always has the best music. 50 who??????

Posted by: j-lats on August 24, 2003 08:14 PMI'm from the CPK, right off Old Nat where I attended Mad Dog Collins. I am very proud of OutKast's success and how they've brought Atlanta's talent to the limelight. Other than Outkast, I can hardly digest the formulaic, "producer-talking-too-much-in-the-background" commercials that passes for hip hop nowadays. Thanks for having something to say and for saying the trivial things so well. You guys are too good for radio...and for these folk who seem unwilling to post messages with punctiation and somewhat passable grammar.

OutKast is one of the few rap groups/rappers tryin to save this sad sorry state of hip pop from singers like ja-rule who wanna make these commercial hits that slowly turn rap/hiphop into a passin fad, instead of a fresh, unpredictable, and evolving form of music.
"Hip Hop is dead, exhume the body if you ain't scared And if I see you in the streets I'd dap you down like you was Greg"
What's cracking kast? I never saw or heard anything or anybody like ya'll. Thank you for changing the game. It's rare to see two artists so bold and so crazy as ya'll. Hey Ya is a risky song, but if this is what you want to do Dre do the damne thing. In the Source interview you said you feel confused I'll pray for you dog. I don't want you to stop snapping though. I wish you would just mix up the singing and rapping like Cee-lo did. The game needs to hear you spit. Boi you're a straight up fool and I feel you. You are indeed one of the best rappers I ever heard. I'm 25 and I grew up on you cats and you have never failed me. Keep snapping and trapping. Htown representer
Posted by: Stephen on September 4, 2003 02:18 AMI'll be checking the radio for it, but its not like there are any radio stations in the gut that will play some outkast. So I'll be rushing to the store (AGAIN) to buy the cd.
Back on August 19 a magazine Bullseye said the CD was out... wrong.
Keep it dirty, and stay on top guys

Posted by: MANTIS1 on September 11, 2003 04:41 PMdont ask me why i got the double cd, a promocional cd...I discover outkast w/stankonia, im from buenos aires, argenina, spreading the music...
now the double cd is not a problem, its outkast 100% big´s cd is powerfull, dre s like more mellow, but they re 2 different trips
They also had some crazy interludes, specially on a kind-of-familiar-recording where a baby raps...
I had to admit that rap for me is like reading a book (i speak spanish) so im lookin 4 lyrics in music, and OuTKAST is the coolest!
thanks
Okay, I just got the whole double disc, and I can tell you this.. Andre 3000 is weird as hell man! I'm not feeling his disc. Andre has always been my favorite Outkast member, but between me and you, I think he maybe did one to many hits of LSD or Ecstacy. His crooning on this album is like fingernails on a chalkboard. It would be one thing if he were kicking knowledge, but he is saying a bunch of unimportant, wack stuff. Think Frank Zappa meets Patty Labelle. It's horrible!! Big Boi's disc however is really impressive. His beats and rhyme cadence are on point throughout the entire album. Definately worth picking up for Big Boi's disc. Big Boi's disc gets a 9.5 from me, and Andre's gets a 1.5.
Peace in the South,
Tye
Posted by: Tye on September 13, 2003 05:45 AMyo i serously think this album is going to be hot, i got to cop it, its only right. yo andre hey ya is my shit. keep doing what you do
Posted by: B on September 14, 2003 09:37 AMHere's to R'n'R, doing it from the heart, and letting those out there know that nothings real when not from the spark of orginal thought from artistic mind. It's good to know that amidst all the hype and lackluster music being pushed from the industry there is still hope, still raw greatness, and still those who go out with thier balls on the line. This is what keeps it fresh. l and l doves and love....keep it to heart. <3
Posted by: Lailah on September 15, 2003 08:20 AM"NOW WHO ELSE WANNA MESS WIT HOLLYWOOD COLE!" I'm lovin this site its nice to see otha people who understand
that Outkast make the best music in the world. You can listen to a outkast cd 5 years after it came out and still
hear new ish. On southernplayalistic, they said "This aint brail but we Bumpin!" Man, thats a hot line, oh and
Dre's verse on Synthesizer off Aquemini, is crazzy hot. Andre 3000, then Pac, then Biggie, and Big Boi should
definately be in the top 10."Cooler than a polar bears toenails" Say what! thats fire right there from big boi
listen to that verse and how it flows so well. If I hear of anybody burning any Outkast cd I take it personal!! These
are some for the few artist that actually take time with there craft, and dont brag about making a cd in 2 weeks!
If you make your CD in 2 weeks, I don't want that shit!! Oskie Woskie, Piski Wiski!! If you a real fan you know where
that comes from, I'll Holla
DeNile
The new album is fantastically well good sir. Close to spectacular in fact! Behold~The Love Below
I MUST SAY OUTKAST IS THE ONLY GROUP IN HISTORY TO COME WITH MUSIC THAT MATTERS AFTER TEN YEARS STRONG. I GOT TO GET A T SHIRT WITH THE LOVE BELOW ON IT. BUT I MUST SAY I THOUGHT BIG BOI CD WAS GOING TO BE MORE GANGSTA THAN THAT. TO KIND OF BALANCE IT OUT. AND ANDRE CD IS TYPED INTO A SOME WHAT GAY BI SEX TYPE OF VIBE BUT THE HOOKS IS SO STRONG AND TO SOME LENGTH GENIUS THAT YOU JUST VIBE WITH IT. THROUGH IT ALL THIS ALBUM IS GENIUS THEY ARE TO OF BLACK MUSIC GREATEST STARS OF ALL TIME. I DONT THING THAT IS ANY GROUP IN THE PRESENTS THAT MAKES MUSIC WITH 2003 IN MIND AS WELL AS BEYOND MOST JUST DIRTLY STEAL FROM THE PAST BUT THE MAKE SHIT FOR THE FUTURE OUTKAST IS THE GREATEST GROUP OF ALL TIME. I MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE C.D YET BUT AT LEAST ITS A PUZZLE THAT MORE THEN YOU CAN SAY FOR P SHITTY OUTRO....OUTKAST FOR LIFE .....ONE BLACK GROUP I'M SO PROUD OF I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO PEACE
Posted by: RAMBO KNIFE on September 20, 2003 04:48 PMDamn, I'm still vibein' off ya' album....The album depicts "Stankonia" at it's best. The songs "Love again" and "Ghetto Musik" on Speakerboxx/The Love Below are jammin'. Okie Dokie Outkast!
Posted by: Midas on September 22, 2003 06:35 AMThese dudes' music keeps getting hotter every record. Anyone dissin' Andre's shit must be out of their minds. So what if he's taken too much acid, I know I have and that's why his shit is so cool. Shuggy Otis reborn is what I say. Big Boi's record is off the chain, too. Keep on doin it, fellas. P.S., come back to Tampa, maybe this time I'll be able to afford a ticket (if I save up).

Posted by: myd on September 24, 2003 09:19 PMShuggie Otis reborn "Damn Kphunk...What you know about that?"....you called it best...you really have to apprecitate the classics to truly appreciate this one...i'm feelin the Nina Simone inspired intro too. Honestly, I had to listen to the cd a couple of times to really appreciate it's artistic value. I find that to be the same with all kast cd's because they are so innovative. Dre really rocked this one. I haven't even got to BigBoi's cd yet. But i'm sure i'll love it the same.
